Comparison
Pileform vs Accountly: the ledger, or the layer that feeds it.
Accountly is a cloud ledger from Paphos for small Cyprus businesses: invoicing, expenses and receipts filed to their Cyprus VAT period, VIES checks and reverse charge on the invoices it issues, and a free portal for your accountant. Pileform is not a ledger. It takes the supplier pile, decides the VAT on every line, and posts reviewed entries into Xero, QuickBooks, Business Central, BTMS or Esoft, with a workbook you keep. Different job, and for some firms both fit.
Pileform is an Accountly alternative for books kept in another ledger. Choose Accountly if you are a small Cyprus business, founder or freelancer wanting one ledger for invoices, expenses, receipts and VAT, with VIES checks and reverse charge on the invoices you send and free access for your accountant. Choose Pileform if your books live in Xero, QuickBooks or another ledger and the supplier pile, Greek included, is the bottleneck.
A founder who keeps the books in Accountly still has the paperwork problem: supplier invoices and receipts arrive as a pile, some of them in Greek, and somebody has to get every line into the ledger. A practice with clients on Xero or QuickBooks cannot move them onto a Cyprus-only ledger to solve that.
Pileform takes the pile exactly as it arrives, in up to eleven languages, computes the VAT per line across Cyprus and 54 other jurisdictions, and hands back entries for whichever ledger the books live in.
Where Pileform differs
The batch, the VAT, and the file you keep.
We are not trying to be a better Cyprus ledger. We are trying to remove the typing between the paperwork and the ledger, whichever ledger that is.
The whole period at once.
Drop one long PDF of mixed pages, or a folder of scans. Pileform separates the documents, groups them by supplier, and reconciles every total in integer cents.
Per-line VAT, 55 jurisdictions.
All five Cyprus rates, 3% included, decided per line; reverse charge detected from the invoice wording; inclusive and exclusive pricing recognised in eleven languages; foreign invoices checked against their own jurisdiction.
A workbook you keep.
One Excel tab per supplier with the original document embedded as proof, plus the journal entries tab. Yours whatever happens to the subscription.
Posts into the ledger you already use.
Xero, QuickBooks Online and Desktop, Business Central, BTMS and Esoft, chosen per company, after you review. Accountly is the ledger; Pileform feeds ledgers.
Computed, never guessed.
Every figure is produced by deterministic code. A rate that is not printed is inferred and flagged yellow for review, never applied silently.
Which to choose
Where Accountly genuinely has the edge.
Choose Accountly if…
You are a small business, founder or freelancer who wants one Cyprus system to be your book of record: invoices, expenses, receipts and VAT in one workspace. A receipt you photograph is filed to the right Cyprus VAT period; a customer's VAT number is checked against VIES, the rate applied and reverse charge flagged before the invoice goes out; your accountant's access is free, and there is a 14-day trial. It is a ledger for a small Cyprus company that does not need Xero or QuickBooks, and it does things we do not, invoicing first among them.
Choose Pileform if…
Your books live in Xero, QuickBooks, Business Central, BTMS or Esoft and the bottleneck is the pile of supplier documents; your paperwork mixes languages, Greek included, or VAT jurisdictions; or you need an audit workbook with the source embedded and roles that keep posting with the owner.
Side by side
Pileform vs Accountly.
| Pileform | Accountly | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | The layer between the paperwork and the ledger: capture, per-line VAT, review, posting | A cloud accounting ledger for small Cyprus businesses: invoices, expenses, receipts and VAT in one workspace, with a free accountant portal |

| VAT | All five Cyprus rates plus 54 other jurisdictions, decided per line, reverse charge from the invoice wording | Its site says VAT and reverse charge are handled: customer VAT numbers checked against VIES and reverse charge flagged on the invoices it issues; per-line VAT on supplier documents not described (its site, checked 30 September 2026) |
| Receipt capture | Whole periods in one drop, up to eleven languages, line descriptions kept in the source language | Photograph a receipt and it is filed to the right Cyprus VAT period; how line items are read, and batch capture, not described (its site, checked 30 September 2026) |

Accountly facts are from its public site, which has moved from accountly.cy to accountly-app.com, checked on 30 September 2026; rows that could not be re-confirmed that day say so and keep the date they were first read, 3 June 2026. Tell us if we have something wrong and we will fix it.
Running both
Nothing moves; the pile does.
There is no migration to do, because Pileform does not replace a ledger. A company on Accountly keeps Accountly and works from the CSV or the workbook; a firm on Xero or QuickBooks connects it and posts. The pile that used to be typed in is the only thing that changes hands.
Pileform vs Accountly: common questions.
Only if what you want from Accountly is getting supplier documents into the books. Accountly is a Cyprus ledger with invoicing, expenses, receipts and VAT in one place; Pileform is the processing layer that feeds a ledger. If you need invoicing and your books in one Cyprus system, Accountly is the right category. If your books are in Xero, QuickBooks, Business Central, BTMS or Esoft and the paperwork is the problem, Pileform is.
Yes. Keep Accountly as the ledger and run the supplier pile through Pileform for the per-line VAT and the audit workbook, then work from the CSV. There is no live connection between the two.
Pileform does: the web app, the desktop app and the mobile preview are in Greek and English, and Greek-script documents are read as printed, with their line descriptions kept in Greek. Accountly was English-only when we read its site on 3 June 2026, and we could not confirm a Greek interface when we checked its site again on 30 September 2026.
Pileform. Accountly is a ledger and does not post into Xero or QuickBooks; Pileform posts Bills, journals and double-entry bank transactions into both, with Cyprus VAT decided per line first.
